Here is what I get: link
based on some comments from Jim and Steve, I checked it out.
It is nice that they updated the UI. I hope they updated the GDI as well so the UI doesn’t do the WM_ERASEBKND stuff (ie. by default, the UI is double buffered)
The only advancement forward that I saw was the blur effect, and it’s a nice touch. Essentially, they blur the content beneath the transparent window. Nice. Usually, when you turn windows transparent, they tend to be too cluttered with the content from beneath the windows (this is especially true with terminal emulator windows).

Yeah, I’m late to the party for this stuff, but here goes.
A while back, some Star Trek fans got together and made some new episodes based on the original Star Trek. They are called New Voyages.
Review: Recommeded. Just watch them. They are fun.. and even my wife liked them. They really got the formula down. Very entertaining.

On the Star Wars front, there is a new fan film called Revelations by Panic Struck productions. It’s a free download via torrent or their site.
Overall: Recommended. Yeah, it’s not a Lucasfilm product, but it’s not too far off. I think its better than even the stuff on the Sci-Fi channel (from what I can remember of it). Yes, the acting, writing, sound, and a few other bits need work. But! What an achievement for a small indy group of fans!
So I checked out the short film Sith Apprentice at Atomfilms. It supposedly got great reviews by the fan community.
My take: not a great short movie. Yeah, they put some energy into it for sure, but I wouldn’t recommend it.
Over the past couple of weeks or so, I’ve been checking out some of the work that the fans and amatuer film makers have been creating on the web. I’m going to post info about each one here. Overall, I’m really impressed.
It’s more “Wow, look at this stuff. The internet is such a great enabler”
I had some broken feed links and broken links in general on the blog. These have been fixed.
