IMHO, Wikipedia is the most interesting thing to happen to mathematics in a long long time.
I’m sure this can apply to other fields as well, but I feel that it is especially true for mathematics.

Probably true for non-mathematicians. However there have always been exciting new developments in mathematics. Unfortunately most of them are hard to explain.
Agreed.
However, should we just accept that math become something so specialized and stratified that only the very very best can understand and navigate the field.
